Aeroflot, Russia’s flag airline, will suspend foreign flights beginning March 8th, with the exception of Belarus. All airlines in the Aeroflot group, including Rossiya and Aurora, would be affected by the flight cancellations. Sabre, a worldwide distribution system that handles ticket purchases and other transactions, has also withdrawn the airline’s flights from the system.
Russian airlines have a number of problems while flying outside the nation, as we recently highlighted on our AvTalk podcast. Airlines are having difficulty paying for ground handling and fuel as a result of the penalties, and lessors who own the aircraft are attempting to reclaim them as soon as possible.
What are the impacted destinations?
Aeroflot, Rossiya, and Aurora flew 2409 passengers to 100 destinations in 53 countries in February.
